Our Mission
Strengthen, support, and broaden the work of Michigan YMCAs; advocating for their work and sharing collective impact with one voice.
The State Alliance of Michigan YMCAs includes
26 independent associations throughout the state
with more than 60 locations
A service area that includes 8,287,365 Michigan residents
representing 83.9% of the state’s population.
The Alliance is led by a volunteer Council made up of representatives of the 26 corporate YMCA CEOs. Each YMCA represented is a member Association of the YMCA of the USA.
The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Across the U.S., 2,700 Ys engage 22 million men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors.
Anchored in more than 10,000 communities, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but also to deliver lasting personal and social change.
The YMCA is founded upon the principle of welcoming all and is committed to creating an inclusive environment. Each Michigan YMCA is an independent organization governed by local volunteers who establish the Ys policies supporting diversity and inclusion.
